Lilli Pilli Girls Win Champion of Champions
Coca-Cola and ANZ Stadium provided the venue for a thrilling junior women's U14 Grand Final.
Kicking off at 10.15, the girls were provided one of the dressing rooms in the Stadium in which they could warm up and prepare for the match. There was much excitement and anticipation as the girls were led by officials to the players tunnel. Both teams entered the arena and it was an entertaining and close game. Lilli Pilli JW14As are coached by Ross Birdsall and he could be seen pacing the sideline providing plenty of encouragement to the girls. A small crowd (by ANZ Stadium standards) however can make a lot of noise and having snatched a goal 30 seconds before half time, the girls dug deep through the second half to retain their lead. there were plenty of heroic moments as Lilli Pilli fought hard to retain the 1-0 scoreline. At full time, an incredible season by a great football team ended and the celebrations began. Congratulations JW14As !!
